Type C-2 redesigned all emojis from Type B-3 and expanded the number of smileys available from one to seven. The new designs in this released used more vibrant colors, and this is the first set from au to include 💩 Pile of Poo which had been available on some SoftBank (née J-Phone) as early as 1997.
Created in 2000, but potentially not in widespread use until 2002. Replaced by Type D-1 in 2003.

An emoji set from au by KDDI; a Japanese mobile phone carrier. Using black and white emoji characters from 1999, this set gained animation in the early 2000s before moving to static, high resolution designs.
In 2012, au replaced its custom designs with a new set heavily inspired by, and designed to be compatible with, emojis from NTT Docomo.
